At the Canyon County Historical Society, we believe history comes alive when students experience it firsthand. Our field trips invite students to step into the stories of Canyon County through engaging exhibits, hands-on learning opportunities, knowledgeable volunteer docents, and our Canyon County Historical Society mascot team.
Our signature field trip experience includes both of our museums in one day, giving students a broader understanding of Canyon County's rich history. Tours begin at the Nampa Train Depot Museum at 9:30 a.m., followed by a lunch break at a nearby park or location of your choice, and conclude at Our Memories Indian Creek Museum in Caldwell at 12:30 p.m.
As a volunteer-powered museum, we reserve Tuesdays for group tours whenever possible. This allows us to provide the greatest number of trained docents and create the best possible experience for your students. If Tuesdays are not an option for your school, summer camp, or after school program, we'll gladly work with you to find another date whenever docent availability allows.
Enhance your visit with our interactive Junior Historian Field Trip Booklet, designed to engage students throughout the tour and give them something meaningful to take home after their museum experience. The booklet is available as an optional add-on for $1.00 per student.
Groups of 10 or more participants qualify for our discounted group admission rate of $3.00 per person, regardless of age.
We also welcome older student groups, college classes, homeschool groups, community organizations, and adult educational tours. These groups follow the same scheduling, pricing, and tour format as our school field trips. While the Junior Historian Field Trip Booklet is designed for elementary-aged students, older groups enjoy a more discussion-based museum experience.
